Both Kinder-Kids and Primary-Kids class have gotten started painting “Landscape painting (by watercolour)” and we have had great children’s work. I know that this painting is not easy to be done and it needs to employ some essential skills and techniques of watercolour painting. However, none of the children in either class gave up to reach the quality of painting as they needed, they tried to make it.
In Kinder-Kids class, children had difficulty in getting to do underdrawing for Landscape painting because they tried to copy photo images to their watercolour-painting paper by hands. In other words, the children were required to observe those images very carefully and the images needed to be drawn in paper very precisely. Of course, essential skills and techniques for painting landscape were provided as necessary but it did not mean to make the painting to be super easy. It still needed putting lots of efforts. All children reached the goal that we decided in the beginning of the class which was to get underdrawing finished, therefore, we will able to start to colour by water paints next week’s class.
In Primary-Kids class, on the other hand, we had two finishing paintings made by children who participated in this class a makeup, they already had one lesson yesterday so they were able to do that.
As you can see these painting work by watercolour paint, and its expressions are smooth.
One of the basic techniques of watercolour painting can be recognised as “layering,” it is because watercolour paint’s character is transparency. Putting in either different paints or the same paints on paper in several times and these have become colour layers. This makes a colour blending effect on paper, not on a palette.
As I mentioned before that the observation is crucial to make underdrawing better and the painting great in the end, it’s because children have aimed to paint the landscape they chose as precise as possible. The eyes have locked on the targets to be painted.
We should see how each child’s “Landscape painting” go and give some directions to improve the quality of work.
