2017年7月3-4日 恒例のスクールホリデーワークショップ。今回は「瓶ランタン」でした。あまり聞き慣れないかも知れませんが、ジャムなどを入れる瓶を利用したランタンのことです。瓶の灯籠といった感じでしょうか。そして、参加してくれた子供たちは、本当に綺麗は瓶ランタンを作ってくれました。
百聞は一見に如かず！ということで、作品写真をみていただければ、どんなに素敵な瓶ランタンができあがったかがお分かりいただけると思います。
製作工程は多く二日間の制作なので集中力も必要でしたが、みんな本当に楽しんで完成まで漕ぎ着けました。
この瓶ランタンは、二通りの鑑賞ができるようになっています。第一は、ろうそくの灯りで瓶に直接描かれている絵を楽しむ。第二は、子供が制作した切り絵を筒状にしたスリップを瓶にかぶせて、そのシルエットをろうそくの灯りと共に鑑賞。もちろん、それ以外にも楽しみ方はたくさんあります。
今回のワークショップでは、本当に子供たちの感性と集中力が調和した作品ができました。とってもきれいな瓶ランタン、みんな楽しんでね！

3-4 July 2017 Now is the school holiday in Melbourne so I could probably say many parents have sent their children to workshops and a workshop at Akihirolab is, I believe, an enjoyable place to experience art making. “Jar Lanterns Workshop” that Akihirolab presented for young people to make jar lanterns.
You can see two jar lanterns, were created by children, in pictures provided by slideshow here so that you can realise how the children performed well through this 2-day workshop.
As you can probably imagine there are so many steps and processes for getting jar lanterns finished although all children accomplished. We occasionally had five-minuets breaks to maintain the power of concentration. Those brakes were also good to know how the next step should be.
There are two ways to appreciate jar lanterns–I know just two ways of that are I recommend and you are able to apply your own lens to ways of appreciating. The first one is to see images drawn on the surface of the lanterns by candlelight. The second one is to view silhouette image(s) by black paper cutout on a tube as laminating while a jar lantern with a lighted candle that should be placed on the inner side of the tube.
All children were great and their jar lanterns likewise. I highly appreciate their attitude toward art making through this workshop. Please enjoy your only one jar lantern in the world.
