火曜クラス「自画像レリーフ」完成。
美しい横顔のレリーフができあがりました。

はじめに完成したレリーフを見ていただきましょう。
正面と斜めからの写真を見ていただくと分かるかと思いますが、顔全体の造形がしっかりとしいます。
また、目鼻口や耳といった細部も丁寧に作り込まれていますね。
顔の造形では、目鼻口が顔のどの位置にあるか”プロポーション”を大切にしました。
そして、顔（頭部）の内側には骨（頭蓋骨）があり、その形を表現することで自然な人間の顔ができることを学びました。
横顔を作る時は、顔だけではなく後頭部も含めて”頭部”を表現することが大事ですね。
髪の毛に隠れてしまう後頭部、首そして肩に流れるラインも見逃しません。
難しいのは顔の造形だけではなく、着彩も難しいんですよ。
自分の肌に近い色、髪の毛、瞳の色を混色で作るのは大変でしたが、その分、リアルな色ができました。
子供たち一人ひとりの顔も個性も違うように、彼ら彼女らの作品も一つ一つ個性的で良い自画像レリーフ作品ができました。

In Tuesday class, we had finished the Portrait relief making with having the great feeling of accomplishment.
All reliefs of children were quite beautiful. Please have a good look at the reliefs first.
There have been very impressive that faces as the relief in pictures here are meticulously modelled, and the basic shape of the face is decent. As you can see two images of the face in a picture indicate portrait relief’s volume and depth, it’s shallower, like a compressed depth of the face, than an actual face. However, the relief clearly has represented the base structure of the human face.
When we were making the portrait reliefs, the proportion of the face was highlighted because it’s the vital component how the face can be felt or seen as the face of human beings. The face proportion was a bit of out-of-range, modelled faces wouldn’t have been resembling the human’s ones.
Moreover, we learned a human face, head, from a perspective of the anatomy in some degree. The inside of our faces, there are skull bones which become the factor for expressing natural figures of human faces.
When the creation of one side of the face that requires making a back side of the head, not only modelling the frontal facial figure. Therefore, making a side face angle is not easy, the whole approach to the face creation is important. Additionally, the line, which appears the relationship between the back side of the head, neck and shoulder, needs to be understood and expressed even it is hidden by hair.
The painting was also not an easy task which demanded lots of colour blending processes to find the colour to be applied to the face. For instance, skin colour is unique, each person has one’s skin colour. It needs to be made by blending colours, a colour comes from the tube does not directly fit and match. This can also be said for the colour of hair and eyes.
Each portrait relief is very unique, it is the same as each child is unique. Every relief has emerged as the great work I have ever seen.
